This surgery involves the placement of plates and/or screws in the jaw bone, in combination with your orthodontic treatment.
These are mini plates and/or screws that are placed in the mouth in strategic locations to facilitate orthodontic tooth movement. These provide stable anchorage points for your orthodontist to move your teeth. These plates/screws are placed in the bone and protrude through the gums to allow orthodontist access. They are removed once they are no longer needed.
